The Directorate of Criminal Investigations has revealed that it has gathered sufficient evidence to have Mombasa Governor, Hassan Joho prosecuted.
The DCI recently grilled the Mombasa Governor on the legitimacy of his academic documents.
Joho’s KCSE certificate is believed to have been forged in order to have the governor join Nairobi University for a commerce degree.
Joho claims that the certificate is not his and comes from an incidence in 2013 where four men were arrested trying to use his documents at the University of Nairobi.
If he is found guilty, Joho will lose the chance to vie for the Mombasa seat as he is required to be a degree holder.
In addition to being barred from vying, Joho could also be jailed for up to 7 years depending on the severity of the case.
Joho has blamed his current woes on the tiff he had with president Uhuru Kenyatta in Mombasa a few months ago.
Joho had accused Uhuru of using projects launched by previous governments to propagate his political agenda in Mombas
