Nairobi, August 21- The outgoing Governor of Nairobi County Evans Kidero has conceded defeat to Mike Sonko who won at the August 8 polls.

Kidero who was rumoured to be on his way to the Supreme Court to contest Sonkos win wished his political rival good tidings as he assumes leadership of Nairobi

Explaining his move to concede defeat to Sonko, Kidero explained that his love for Nairobi had neccesitated their wars.

He admitted that running Nairobi is an uphill task that needs someone of Sonko’s mettle to pull off.

The same ceremony was attended by President Uhuru Kenyatta who lauded Kidero for accepting defeat and wished him the best in his future endeavours.

Sonko took the win with 811,995 (53.4 per cent) votes against Kidero’s 653,185 (42.95 per cent).

After the close of the polls, there were claims that Kidero had disagreed with the outcome and had called for a recount.

Kidero who was vying on an ODM ticket was part of a delegation of leaders who claimed that Jubilee had obtained the win unfairly.

As it stands, the National Super Alliance (NASA) has filed an appeal at the Supreme court to challenge the outcome of the election.
