Nairobi- Thursday, August 31 – Kitui West MP Francis Nyenze walked to parliament to take his oath while on an oxygen mask.
Elected leaders were sworn in the 12th parliament just two weeks after the General Election.
Physically disabled leaders were sworn in first followed by those who have served most years in Parliament.
It was, therefore, unexpected when vocal Wiper Party’s re-elected Kitui West Member of Parliament was sworn in while he was on oxygen.
With a gas line hooked up to him, Nyenze breathlessly persevered through his swearing in oath and returned to his seat escorted by a Parliament employee.
The MPs are later expected to elect their speaker after which President Uhuru Kenyatta will convene the first 12th Parliament sitting.
